16 days from Hanoi to Saigon (EV20-16)

Itinerary

Day 1  HANOI ARRIVAL

Arrive in Hanoi, our guide picks you up and transfer to hotel for check in. In the afternoon, take a half day city tour visit: 36 Old Quarter streets, Hang Be market and Temple of Literature. Have dinner and overnight in Hanoi. (D)

Day 2  HANOI – HA LONG

Depart to Ha Long by car. Enjoy the interesting 3–hour drive to Ha Long, along the way you will see rice fields, water buffalos and daily Vietnamese village life, stop over to visit Dong Trieu pottery workshop. Get on the boat for check in and start to have a cruise around Ha Long Bay, visit the Surprise natural grotto and enjoy swimming at Ti Top beach. Enjoy lunch and dinner with fresh seafood. Overnight on board. (B,L,D)

Day 3  HA LONG – HANOI

Enjoy cafe and biscuits, watching morning sunrise. Continue to take cruise to visit Luon grotto. Breakfast on boat. Return to the wharf and come back Ha Noi. On the way, stop over to visit the disabled’s handicraft workshop at Sao Do. Return Ha Noi, check in hotel for relax. Enjoy traditional water puppet show in the evening. Overnight in Ha Noi. (B,L,D)

Day 4  HANOI – TAY PHUONG – CHUA THAY – HANOI

In the morning, take a half-day city tour to visit: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh Museum, Ho Chi Minh’s house-on-stilts, One Pillar Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Quan Thanh Temple and Temple of Literature. Have lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit 2 beautiful pagodas surrounding Ha Noi: Tay Phuong and Thay pagodas. Return to Ha Noi late in the afternoon. After dinner, transfer to Hanoi railway station to take night train to Dong Hoi. (B,L,D)

Day 5  DONG HOI – PHONG NHA – DONG HOI

Arrive in Dong Hoi around 07h30, transfer to hotel for breakfast. Depart to Phong Nha which has been recognized as a world natural heritage site by UNESCO. After lunch in a local restaurant, return to Dong Hoi for hotel check-in. The rest of time is free at leisure. Have dinner at hotel. Overnight in Dong Hoi. (B,L,D)

Day 6  DONG HOI – HUE

Depart to Hue by car, drive through historical sites, which were established under the American war: Vinh Moc Tunnel, Hien Luong bridge (the border divided the North and the South of Vietnam along 17th parallel) and Quang Tri Citadel. Arrive in Hue at noon, check in hotel. The rest of time is free at leisure to discover the city. Have dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Hue. (B,L,D)

Day 7  HUE

After breakfast, take a boat trip on Perfume river, stop over to visit Thien Mu pagoda located on the bank of the river. Visit Ming Mang and Khai Dinh Mausoleums. Have lunch at a typical local restaurant. In the morning, visit Imperial Citadel, enjoy a musical royal show in the ancient theatre in the citadel. Continue to visit Tu Duc Mausoleum and Dong Ba market. Have dinner at hotel. Overnight in Hue. (B,L,D)

Day 8  HUE – HOI AN

Depart to Hoi An (through Hai Van pass). Stop at Da Nang to visit Cham Museum. Arrive in Hoi An for hotel check-in. In the afternoon, visit Hoi An ancient town: walk around Hoi An market, Tan Ky ancient house, Phuc Kien temple, Japanese Covered bridge and go shopping. Return to hotel by sampan on Thu Bon River. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight in Hoi An. If you come on 14th of the month on the Lunar calendar, you will enjoy a night of lantern lights on streets in Hoi An. (B,L,D)

Day 9  HOI AN – DA NANG – NHA TRANG

Have breakfast, free at leisure on the beach. After lunch, transfer to Da Nang railway station to take a train to Nha Trang at 13h00. Arrive in Nha Trang around 22h00. Check in hotel. Have dinner and overnight in Nha Trang. (B)

Day 10  NHA TRANG

Take a full day to discover all beauty spots in Nha Trang such as Cham Po Nagar temple, Long Son pagoda and Ocean Institute. Take a cruise to visit Hon Tam island and Tri Nguyen aquarium, the rest of time is free on the beach. Overnight in Nha Trang. (B,L)

Day 11 NHA TRANG

A full day free at leisure on the beach (without meals). There are many activities for your choice: scuba diving, water sports, canoeing to the wild small islands around, mud bath, etc. Overnight in Nha Trang to watch a twinkling star night on a breezily beautiful beach. (B)

Day 12  NHA TRANG – SAIGON

In the morning, free at leisure on the beach. Transfer to railway station, take train to Saigon at 14h20. Arrive Saigon around 22h00. Check-in hotel. Have dinner and overnight in Saigon. (B,D)

Day 13  SAIGON

Take a full day to visit city: start to visit central quarters where there many houses and buildings were built under French domination: Reunification Palace, Notre Dame, Center Post Office and Ben Thanh market. The rest of time for go shopping. After lunch in a local restaurant, in the afternoon, continue to visit China town, Cho Lon with its Binh Tay market, Thien Hau pagoda and Ngoc Hoang temple. Overnight in Saigon. (B,L,D)

Day 14  SAIGON – CAN THO

Depart to Vinh Long, take a boat to visit along Tien Giang river, link upper Mekong Delta, visit Cai Ba floating market. On the way, stop over to visit ceramic tile factory, coconut candy factory and a rice husking business. Have lunch in an orchard garden and enjoy fruits, home-made honey alcohol and local traditional songs. Continue to transfer to Can Tho. Have dinner and overnight in Can Tho. (B,L,D)

Day 15  CAN THO – SAIGON

A boat trip on the Hau Giang river, link lower Mekong Delta, visit floating Cai Rang and Phung Hiep markets. Return to Saigon, check in hotel. Have dinner and overnight in Saigon. (B,L,D)

Day 16  DEPARTURE

Transfer to airport. End of services. (B)
