This building is surrounded by a pool of water, the columns around the building are shaped like palm trees, and the two legislative chambers are cone-shaped symbolizing volcanoes. You will also visit Washington Place which was named in honor of the first U.S. president and was the home to dozens of hawaiis governors. You will also pay your respects to the dead and to enjoy the panoramic view at the National Cemetery of the Pacific which is located in the Puowaina Crater or Punchbowl which was created by volcanic activity over 75,000 years ago. They created typical villages from eight Pacific Island nations (Hawaii, Samoa, Maori New Zealand (Aotearoa), Fiji, Tahiti, the Marquesas, Tonga, and Rapa Nui) on 42 acres. Each of the island villages gives you a first-hand look at these diverse and fascinating cultures. The Center also offers several screenings in their IMAX theater of the Coral Reef Adventure that follows the real life expedition of underwater filmmakers as they explore unique locations in Fiji, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and the waters off Tahiti.
